Twespians is a tweetup for people who work in, around or at theatre in the UK. It's an opportunity for like minded people to get together, have a few drinks and talk about theatre and social media in a relaxed, friendly environment. With several Be2camp people participating in the Emap's Construction and social media training day at America Square, it seemed like an opportunity to try and organise a Tweet-up to catch the training day audience, add some who couldn't attend and maybe tempt a few people to find out more about Be2camp and what we do.
This is a great opportunity to meet people from the world of architecture, engineering, construction and property, some expert in using Web 2.0, others sceptical about it or just starting out. Whether you're a Twitter-holic or studiously abstain, this is your chance to meet people who are using Web 2.0 to transform how they communicate with their fellow professionals.

Recruitment Tweetup with the theme of "Social Recruiting". A meet up for the recruitment industry and any other interested parties to network and discuss the effect social media is having on the recruitment industry. The main focus of the evening will be networking but there will be some short speeches on the topic to kick the evening off.

Next week is social media week, an international festival of social media activities - conferences, workshops and meetups in six major cities, intended 'to advance uses of social media in the corporate, public and non-profit sectors.' We've decided to chip into the programme of activity in London with a Radio 4 tweetup (that's a Twitter meetup, an informal gathering organised on Twitter) on Thursday 4 February at 1930 in the vicinity of Broadcasting House, Radio 4's central London home. It's open to all Radio 4 listeners and there's no programme of activity, no speakers and no turns. There's also no charge. It's not an official event, just an opportunity for Radio 4 listeners to gather in one place and take refreshment. And, of course, you don't need to be on Twitter. I'm leaving the venue open for the time being because I'm uncertain as to how many people will come but it might take place at the nearby BBC Club or in a friendly pub.

First of all, make sure you're following @radio4blog on Twitter, then reply, telling the world you're going to come, using the hashtag #R4tweetup. I'll publish details of the tweetup venue here and on Twitter when it's decided. Please enthusiastically retweet so that we get a good number of attendees! As part of Social Media Week, FreshNetworks will be hosting "Doughnuts for Drupal" - a free, informal breakfast and discussion about using Drupal as a social media platform. The event will also launch the FreshNetworks drupal hub.

Short description of the event: An informal gathering with a serious purpose: this event is for anyone interested in the anthropological / sociological impact of social media - does it have a part to play in social evolution? What is the long term psychological impact of too much (or too little) social networking? What is the overall cultural impact? Join us for a philosophical discussion over a few drinks (and Dim Sum if you fancy) led by Jemima Gibbons, author of "Monkeys with Typewriters: myths and realities of social media at work" (Triarchy Press 2009)

The event is essentially a 'show and tell' conversational mixer, pulling the suppliers together in a single space for people to take a look at, and play with, their software. The theme of this event is: software and tools to help us monitor and measure social media activity.

Geekdrinks is a meritocratic, open source, social drinking and "notworking" night for anyone in PR, marcomms, and media who considers themselves a geek and likes to have a drink.
